Broken Saints Studio - Las Vegas, NM
Broken Saints Studio, located in historic Las Vegas, New Mexico, at 131 Bridge Street, is Duffy Peterson's working studio. The doors are always open when the artist is present and all visitors are welcome. In addition, the Studio is open Thursdays from 10 to 2 and Saturdays from 12 to 4. On "Second Saturdays" of each month, Broken Saints is open from 12 to 6, with many other galleries and studios participating as well.
In an inviting living room type setting, Duffy pursues oil and acrylic painting, drawing and mixed media. Subjects can be local landscapes to abstract images. Duffy also offers her one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry, rosaries and prayer beads. Mixed into this setting are "curious items" for sale as well. Mexican bowls, religious statues, regional primitives, vintage wooden pieces are just a few of the eclectic items she has gathered.
The name Broken Saints derives from Duffy and her husband, Chuck's, collection of religious art primarily from the region. Because of the pieces' ages, some are broken, some repaired, some not. In reality, the image of Broken Saints is a reflection of our belief that all of us are broken but have the possibility of becoming saints in our everyday lives.
