Knight/Wolf Gallery - Cimarron, NM

Knight/Wolf Sculpture

In 2004 Steve Knight and Sherry Wolf moved from California to Cimarron, New Mexico seeking a simpler life. They were looking for a place to settle and fulfill their artistic dreams.

They have spent the last three years converting an old warehouse into a studio space for Steve’s painting and photography and Sherry’s sculpture with a small gallery space to display their artwork and the artwork of some of their friends.

Their studio/gallery, Knight/Wolf Studios, is in the heart of Old Town Cimarron, where travelers on the Santa Fe Trail would often stop. Across the street is the haunted St James Hotel, built in the 1870’s, where historical figures such as Kit Carson, Billy the Kid and Annie Oakley are said to have spent time.

Steve prefers to paint portraits but will occasionally paint a landscape. His expressive portraits are dynamic color representations of his subjects. Steve‘s photography is primarily of local interest: architecture, wild life and landscapes. He uses light and shadow to enhance the essence of what he sees.

Sherry‘s sculptures incorporate the historical and ethnic spirit of the region, creating both non representational and representational works. Her materials can include wood, paper, metal and/or concrete. Sherry has recently started to incorporate punched and embossed tin to her sculpture. In a year or two the studio will include a sculpture garden with large sculptures and plants where visitors can roam and relax.

Some other art to be carried in their studio/gallery will be pottery (including raku), jewelry (niobium and sterling) and other gift items.
